Jets fans have to be at least cautiously optimistic at the prospect of a younger, more aggressive defense that completely befuddled rookie Eli Manning in a 17-10 preseason win Friday night at Giants Stadium.

New defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson came up with a barrage of blitzes that resulted in five sacks and four turnovers, including a fumble on a sack of quarterback Eli Manning that was returned 27 yards for a touchdown by safety Omare Lowe.

For Chad Pennington, things certainly went a lot better than the last time he saw the Giants.

Meanwhile, backup running back-designate Lamont Jordan is still unhappy with his unclear role.

It is now time for the coaches to make the roster cuts, and eight were made yesterday, with ten more to come in the before the roster is trimmed to 65 men Tuesday.

The Jets' exhibition season concludes Friday night in East Rutherford with an intriguing matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, an NFC favorite.
