American Women Win Two Medals in Wrestling

In the first ever Olympics that included women's wrestling, the American women won the silver and bronze medals. Sara McMann lost in the gold medal match to Kaori Icho from Japan, 3-2. Icho and McMann competed in the 63-kilo weight class (138.75 lbs).

Patricia Miranda took silver in the 48 kilograms weight class (105.5 lbs), defeating Angelique Berthenet from France.

Going into the Olympics, the women wanted people to know that they were no joke. Miranda is scheduled to go to Yale Law after the Olympics. She's certainly one lawyer that Gothamist wouldn't want to face - not that we're facing lawyers or anything.
