Controversy, what Controversy?

It was Eli Manning' s turn to start last night and he looked solid against the defending N.F.C. Champions and kept his head in a sold-out Bank of America Stadium during a 27-20 loss. Playing much of the first half, Manning completed 9 of 15 passes for 115 yards, but the team only came up with 6 points while he was at the helm.

Kurt Warner was sacked four times and threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Jesse Palmer came in during garbage time to get a cosmetic touchdown.

The Giants were missing a lot of starters, but the defense and the offensive line looked pretty shaky. At one point Carolina sacked the Giants on three consecutive plays. Also the defense allowed Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme to throw for 144 yards and a touchdown while looking like the second coming of Joe Montana.

Ron Dayne looked good at times, but repeatedly coughed it up at the goal line. Luckily the Panthers bailed him out with penalties. Up next: the Jets next Friday.
