Mr. Met and Hello Kitty, Caught Canoodling!

2004_08_hellokittymrmet.jpg

To celebrate Hello Kitty's 30th Anniversary, it seems that the folks at Sanrio and at the NY Mets decided that there would be nothing like setting up their respective disproportionately large-headed mascots for some fun at Shea Stadium during a game last Sunday. Naturally, Japanese player Kazuo Matsui was involved in some of the festivities. It's stuff like this (basically any time they trot out Mr. Met) that reminds Gothamist why we love the Mets...even though they suck.

More photos of Hello Kitty Day at Shea from WireImage. And the game in question was the one where Diamondbacks pitcher Randy "Big Unit" Johnson and Mets player Todd Zeile had a staredown.

more important - what will mrs. met think? i mean, they have a child together for crying out loud.

And what about Dear Daniel? Is Hello a single kitty again?

What I really want is an image of Hello Kitty photoshopped to be Goodbye Kitty with extended claws in the upraised hand and a mean snarl.

/wonders about the connection between HK and the Lucky Money cat.
