2 Nights, 2 Teams, 2 Silvers

A night after the US Men's Gymnastics team won the silver medal, the Women's team did the same thing. After winning the 2002 worlds, hopes were high going into Athens. The USA women haven't come close to winning since 1996 in Atlanta. In the end, it was the storied Romanian team that beat them out for the gold.

The Romanians clinched the gold medal during the floor event, the final event of the competition. Like going against a baseball team with last licks, there was nothing the US women could do but watch. Russia won the bronze metal.

Unlike the men's competition, the women only compete in the balance beam, floor exercise, uneven bars and the vault.
