Aftermath

bonnie_fri.jpg Unlike Florida, which was devastated by Hurricane Charley, New York got lucky as Charley moved east and largely left us high and dry. Central Park received only a third of an inch of rain and our highest wind gust was 14 mph! As incredible as it may seem, as of midnight last night our rainfall for the month was below normal. The rain from Bonnie was intense for a few minutes as Gothamist drove down the Henry Hudson Parkway while going home Friday afternoon.

In Florida, it's not easy as at least 16 people are known dead and close to 900,000 still do not have electricity on the second day after Charley hit. If you want to help the victims of Charley Volunteer Florida has set up a hotline at 1-800-FL-HELP1.

As for our weather today expect the rain to continue for a few more hours with gradual clearing in the evening. After some fog in the morning tomorrow should be a nice day. Better enjoy it while you can as the Weather Service is keeping a decent chance of rain in the forecast for each day from Wednesday through Sunday. AccuWeather has pretty much the same forecast. Now, Earl, doncha bother me!
