Take a Republican to Lunch

Time Out New York and Air America Radio are sponsoring Take a Republican to Lunch Week from August 30th through September 2nd. The idea is that you should invite a Republican to lunch, read up on important issues, enjoy a lively political debate and a ten percent discount at lunch, then report your experience back to Air America. The sponsors of the event even provide a list of sites to research the political issues. So reach out and make friends with "these exotic and (around here, at least) elusive creatures," and visit the event's website to find a list of participating restaurants and more details.

is there a discount for the hospital bills when things escalate past the lively debate?

I thought this was going to be something where they paired liberal locals with conservative visitors. On many levels, that would have been great! Even-odds potential for both intelligent discourse and unrestrained violence!

I would rather do that, actually. This time around I'm sitting on the fence (which is covered with barbed razor wire) so I wouldn't be aggressive or enraged about any particular issues vs a Republican. I'd gladly meet with a Young Republican or delegate and try to have a non-incendiary conversation over a burger and fries. I think that would be really cool.

Maybe I can set up that promotion... there's still time...
