THINGS QUIET DOWN FOR EARLY NEXT WEEK

rain_8th_st.jpg That is Gothamist's favorite line from this morning's National Weather Service forecast discussion. We'll try not to sound like a broken record, but as long as the front hangs out in our 'hood, and as long as tropical moisture streams our way, we don't have much choice in the matter. Expect a lot of rain today through Sunday. A record 4.10 inches of rain fell at JFK yesterday afternoon with lesser, but still impresive, amounts of rain falling elsewhere in the area. The Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the city and its northern and western suburbs for Friday.

We are not alone. The fine folks at Capital Weather are also getting soaked and they had hail! Did anyone get hit with hail here yesterday?

Out in LA, though, things are looking nice. Foggy at night, sunny during the day. Highs around 70 along the coast and in the 80s inland. Fine weather for having a cerveza and fish tacos outside at Wahoo's Fish Tacos, or getting the mole negro and chapuline empanadas to go from the awesome Guelaguetza.

So far the rain forecast has been a total bust! For Friday though the Weather Service has gone from "heavy rain" to "torrential rain" with 4 inches not unusual and amounts of up to 6 inches in some areas.
