As Jen and Jake are in L.A.,
Tien Mao has kindly agreed to shoulder more of the posting load on the main Gothamist page over the next few days. Tien, our editor-at-large as well as Sports co-editor, has been instrumental in developing posts and advising on the future direction of Gothamist...which brings us to mention the strange image (right) we found floating on the server, apparently in anticipation of J & J's absence - we feel it's a testament to Tien's creativity.
Gothamist is more than one person - that's why we use our strange "collective voice" - because we're this organism full of many different ideas and pet topics, but at the end of the day, it's about our collective interest in bringing some bits of the city you might have missed closer as well as the big stories out there. And we're also lucky, because we receive great feedback in comments and email from readers that helps us make the site better. We're really proud of what our fine editors and contributors have amassed in the recent months and hope that you continue to enjoy Gothamist.
This is also a good time to thank our behind the scenes team: Neil Epstein for his tireless work in making sure that Gothamist and its various sites - plus our other -ist cities - are up and running and Sam Park for his many -ist logos and suffering our "reply-all' style of comments process (and heads-up on a cityscape silhouette for the Easter Islands site, dude).
If you have any comments or thoughts, you can email Jen or Jake.
