Darn, my dog is to big to be carried in one of those samll plastic carriers. So unless it is legal for me to get a large canvas carrier and cut out holes for his legs, tail, and head and then walk him onto the subway, he will never get to know the joys of riding the F train during rush hour.

The MTA allows small dogs in carriers held in your lap. As long as they aren't walking around.

It is technically called the London Underground, but most people refer to it as the tube. Dogs are generally allowed in the tube as well, but it is up to the discretion of the service staff.

Its called the Tube. As for allowing animals on it? Well, just guide dogs I guess. As for humans? Well, without a/c we're treated liek animals. A word to any New Yorkers planning a trip. isn't that clever graphic of a dog overlaid on a subway map actually the LONDON UNDERGROUND???? Yes it is! And if you'd bothered to read the post properly, tony b, you'd've realized the very last sentence says "the above image is from animals on the underground." Duh. The MTA lets you bring animals onto the subway and buses as long as a) they're in proper carriers and b) they don't occupy a seat.
