Fay Wray Dies

Fay Wray died today, at age 96 in Manhattan. Best known as the apple in King Kong's eye, Wray is one of the most indentifiable things about the Empire State Building (though we don't think it was actually filmed there). The AP notes that Wray did write in her autobiography, "Each time I arrive in New York and see the skyline and the exquisite beauty of the Empire State Building, my heart beats a little faster. I like that feeling. I really like it!" Gothamist feels the same way.

A Fay Wray fan site and her IMDB filmography. And Joe S from Gothamist Weatherwondered if lights will go dark for Ms. Wray; the Empire State Building lighting schedule says the lighting will be white, the ESB's usual lighting, but we shall see.
