Wright Busts Out in Mets Sweep

Finally, some good and positive Mets news. The future at third base for the Mets, David Wright, had his coming out party. In yesterday's 11-6 (box score) victory against the Brewers, Wright went 3-5 with 6 RBI. The win also completed a three game sweep of the Brewers and was the first win for new Mets pitcher Victor Zambrano.

In the first inning, Wright hit a three-run blast that traveled an estimated 445 feet and hit Bernie Brewer's slide in the left field stands. In the fourth inning, Wright hit a base clearing double to push his RBI tally on the night to 6 (he has 10 on the season). Newsday reports that his 6 RBi is the most by a Met rookie since Jeremy Burnitz (the Met turned Brewer turned Met) had 11 in a game against the Expos. Naturally, Wright had an error in the game, because if he didn't, he wouldn't be on the Mets.

Zambrano pitched 5 1/3 innings for his win. During the outing, he gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hits and 3 walks. He also had 7 strikeouts. With all this built up momentum, the Mets are surely to do well this weekend, right? We'll see. They are headed to St. Louis to play the best team in baseball. Might there be a sweep in that series as well? (For the Cards, of course.)
