Breaking News: Rick James Dies

In some more tragic news this week, music legend, Rick James died today. There is little information available right now, but a breaking news banner on CNN.com said, "Singer Rick James was found dead in his home Friday by his caretaker, a Los Angeles police department spokesman said." More recent updates have James passing at 9:45 am of natural causes. James is of course best known for his "Super Freak" and had a career that spanned the 70s, 80s, and multiple music genres. More news as the story develops.

'First of all I would to tell the family how sorry I am for their loss, Secondly I would like to say that people are so ignorant, why folks always have something bad to say about a person especially when the person has just passed away. People should at least show a little sympathy towards the family.

I recently bought a Rick James shirt on St. Mark's place - partly in tribute to Chappelle's bit on him and partly to be hip-ly ironic. Now I will look insensitive - unless they actually do that full motion picture about him.

Among the other charming details I'd like to add are that Rick James dated Linda Blair for a long time, almost single-handedly rescued Motown in the early 1980s (and not with his production work on Eddie Murphy's single, "Party All the Time"), and was imprisoned for kidnapping a woman and sexually torturing her with a crack pipe.
