Realizing that what NYers need is more ice cream, Damon Dash is unleashing ROC ice cream trucks that will sell ice cream. Plus the trucks will give away ROC branded promotional materials. Of course, the press release mentions that New York will get three trucks (one with Samantha Ronson with twin C. Ronson and another with Cam'ron), but it does not mention what kind of ice cream they will be serving, which, in Gothamist's opinion, is an important thing to know. Soft-serve or ice cream bars and Italian ices? Or both? And since the ROC ice cream trucks, which hit downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn streets until August 31st, are promoting musicians, will they attempt to play music? And how will that work, with the noise ban in the works? So many unanswered questions!
Trucks will also be in Atlanta, Chicago (Kanye West truck) and Philadelphia (Beanie Sigal, which Gothamist thought was "Bernie Seigel" at first, but then we realized that was too accountant-y; and for the record, the best name on the Rocafella roster is Freekey Zeekey). [Via Coolfer; check out his picks for this weekend's music]
Gothamist on the noise ban and Mr. Softee trucks.

The Ronson truck already exists - it's usually on Broadway and Spring in SoHo. Man, Mick's jizz didn't bring any talent to those kids.
That's because he's thier stepdad.
The Ronsons must be stopped. Seriously.
Damon Dash must be stopped before there is a ROC version of every imaginable product. We already have clothing, vodka (Belvedere), watches a(Tiret NY) and now Ice cream. How long before Rocapads Maxis really make it to the market.
and don't forget his magazine (America), movie company (Roc-a-Films), and TV Studio in the UK, etc.
This is one of the most retarded ideas in the hip-hop game.
It is understood that celebrities would like to do things for the community especially for the children, but to go competition with another ice cream business thats been rolling trucks for half a century, putting wonderful smiles on our childrens faces and makes perfect business in each of their locations.
Personally the roc need another option and need to stop trying so hard just to be the best in fame.
They have a record label, alcohol, clothing, and more, plus the owner of the roc (jay-z) now owns def jam records, why go competition, they have alot that has already drawn peoples attention, why give a damn about some roc ice cream truck.
I will wish them the best in that role of the roc business, but they wont beat Mister softee. I VOUCH FOR THAT......!
