Mom Calls It A Taut Psychological Thriller

The enigmatic Charlie Kaufman could be one of our most exciting American screenwriters working today, especially in regards to his collaborations with directors Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry. His nebbish charm and wit to spare surely must impress in person, as they do on screen and in interviews. Though knowing Charlie as Gothamist feels we do from his mocking self-portrayals, he'd probably hate to have that much attention and expectation honed in on him by the public.

charliekauffman.jpgThe writer will be speaking this evening in a Q & A following a screening of his most recent produced work, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind at Makor. The film begins at 7 pm and the discussion at 9 pm at the Steinhardt Building, 35 West 67th Street. Tickets cost $18 for the discussion only, $25 for both. According to the Makor website, the event is sold out but additional tickets may become available an hour before each portion.

So hanging around in hopes of getting in might not be so bad, we're sure Charlie would love to know he has screenwriter groupies.
