BBQ NYC

City Rag tipped us off to another annual NYC barbecue event. Gothamist has attended the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party this year and last year, but we haven't yet made it to BBQ NYC, which was held on July 24th in Flushing Meadows Park. City Rag was able to interview the founder of the event, Travis Mills, and take some mouthwatering pictures which makes us even more sad that we weren't there. We'll be sure to go next year, thanks to CityRag's following tips:

- go to the official website for information on how to attend and to get on the mailing list BBQ-NYC.com (and there will be pix and updates about the event there in the coming days)
- the picnic is open to everyone – on a first come basis (you must sign-up in advance. the picnic sells out very quickly and no walk-ins are accepted)
- a wonderful, funny and info packed email goes out to all attendees before the picnic that includes every bit of information you need!

well I was there and helped cook the 240 odd pounds of pork shoulder and brisket from 12pm friday to 11 am that saturday. Through the bouts of rain and all. From what i saw and how the people reacted to our food well everyone is right. But there is more from us. I am not sure if I can put it in here but we are doing a fundraiser at the brooklyn brewery on August 22. see below

make it more bearable while a cure for cancer continues to escape us. We
look at advanced diagnostics as the only way to nip cancer in the bud, and
at a bacterial cause that has long been suppressed.
Your support will not only allow us to make changes in the cancer industry,
but it will also insure that YOU will be able to escape the dreadful
consequences of the disease.
