Summer Heat

2004_08_dotheright.jpg

You can't fool us Gothamist Weather - bad news is just bad news when it comes to heat and humidity! But thank you for trying to make us less hysterical about it. And it really is not that bad.

One look at a long, hot summer day in New York: Do the Right Thing - Roger Ebert's Great Movies review and also check out the Criterion DVD of it. And more Gothamist hotness:
- Sets & the City feature on Low Flying Jets from Gothamist Arts & Events
- A trip to Sweet'n'Tart Cafe at Gothamist Food, plus a Tomato-Scallop Napoleon recipe!
- Ask Gothamist tackles the age old question "Why did we go on a date when you already have a girlfriend?"
- And the voice of the Mets, Bob Murphy dies, and Isiah Thomas continues to shore up the Knicks on Gothamist Sports

Why does the food section not appear on the digest webpage?

Best movie in which heat is a character = Dog Day Afternoon.

I second la depressionada's nomination.

Best 'urban' movie with heat as a character is Dog Day.
IMHO: Heat-as-Best-Character in a Movie: A Passage to India (also from David Lean: Larry of Arabia).
For sundry others see also: Beyond Rangoon and The Poseidon Adventure.
