I live in the area- there were always rumors that it the navy yard was apart of the 'Under Ground Rail Road'. That there are tunnels there that link the Navy Yard to a Nunnery on Willoughby, and then as far as Kings Highway. I wonder if any historical society has ever done an audit of the place and the surrounding areas. Another point of fact - some where there is a copy in the historic records regarding that this was orginially Indian Tribal Land.
