i'm not trying to disparage the original, i like it quite a lot. i just don't find it to be the masterpiece it often gets made out to be. while i would agree too that angela landsbury is amazing in the 1962 version, meryl streep ain't no slouch either when it comes to playing creepy mothers. give her a chance, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

demme has a lot of 'splainin to do for that CHARADE remake with the lesss talented wahlberg brother and thandie (i've never been good in a movie) newton . . . .

frankly, there was N O T H I N G wrong with the original MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE. no one will ever top angela lansbury. ever.

hopefully this will put demme into permanent retirement? here's hoping.

damn, it has an 85% rating on rottentomatoes....
