Afraid? How about "You've got $100 for a belt and shoes. Otherwise you go into debt or have to scale back the food budget." Then you see why black is sensible. 5 of my last 5 belts were black. Shoes, I rarely consider brown (although I have a pair that's delightfully comfortable). If someone donates $80 to the BV Brown Shoes Fund, I'll gladly upgrade my wardrobe. Besides, in New York, where does black go wrong? I'm now going to gulp a beer, hoard the remote, and watch a Clint Eastwood movie to regain my manliness.

I'm gonna totally fag-out here and say that black shoes with khakis are unacceptable. Also, black shoes with jeans are unadvisable. Why are men afraid of brown shoes?
