Left on Flatbush, Right on the Great White Way

Gothamist is intrigued to hear that Brooklyn's in da house, not once, but twice in the upcoming Broadway season.

First, Brooklyn begins previews in September at the Plymouth Theatre in a show that has been described as "a musical about the journey of a Parisian songstress" which jumps between our mighty borough and the city of light.  Eden Espinoza (Wicked) and hottie Kevin Anderson (Sunset Boulevard, Death of a Salesman) star,  and Jeff Calhoun (Big River) directs. The show was first produced in 2003 at the Denver Civic Theatre

Hopefully there won't be too much confusion come January when Brooklyn Boy opens at the Manhattan Theatre Club's Biltmore Theatre.  Adam Arkin (who we especially loved on Northern Exposure) stars as a bestselling author summoned by Hollywood.  Also starring are Arye Gross (Minority Report), Kevin Isola (Everett Beekin), Mimi Lieber (I'm Not Rappaport) and Dana Reeve (More To Love).  The prolific Daniel Sullivan (The Retreat From Moscow, Proof, The Sisters Rosenzweig) directs a play by Donald Margulies, a recent collaborator with Sullivan on Manhattan Theatre Club's Sight Unseen. Margulies also penned the Pulitzer-winning Dinner With Friends, and Collected Stories.  We think both of these shows sound interesting and can't wait to check out how the ad campaigns will distinguish each apart .
