The New York Times reports that France is taking dramatic steps to increase French wine sales, most notably by attempting to re-categorize wine as food. This would enable French wine makers to avoid advertising restrictions currently placed on alcohol, including a prohibition on television and radio advertising.
most French people it polled already consider wine a food, if it is defined as "a substance with nutritive components absorbed by the digestive tube."
Well, that kind of takes the romance out of French wine, n'est-ce pas? Gothamist recommends that you determine for yourself if French wine should, in fact, be considered a food. Perhaps over lunch. The following two upcoming wine events focus on different regions of France:
Summer in Provence featuring the wines of Domaines Ott at Provence Restaurant, July 29, 7 pm, Provence Restaurant, $75.
The Best of the Loire, 6:30 pm, August 3rd, Warwick Hotel, $170.
And if those are beyond your price range, check out Epicurious for a list of French wines under $10.

During my time in the Italian Alps and subsequent research on vineyards, I learned that not only is wine a food but beer is as well. Praise be! Eat up.
If wine were not food, I'd have little to eat.
We are an upscale steakhous on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and we will be hosting a series of wine dinners this Fall 2004. I was wondering whether you may be able to post this event on your website?
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind regards,

That's a strange way to tackle Americans. French wine was no doubt a greatly demanded wine lately but Americans have lead the marketplace for a while now and French don't seems to have afforded that lol
