I had some friends who used to make pipe-bombs when we were kids. They'd blow up mailboxes with them. One guy I never liked nearly lost his arm one time when, unable to screw the cap on a pipe bomb, he took a hammer to it. The blast was mostly directed at a tangent to where he was sitting, but the cap clipped his ear and a piece of shrapnel lodged in his arm. Some of the explosive material was ejected into his face without detonating. The brother of this same kid lost most of one hand a few years earlier, playing catch with a dynamite cap. So much for evolution.

Fight the Powder! I've seen this thing in front of the Garden. It's actually a lot smaller than it looks in the picture. Ten cops coming out of the back of this thing would look like something directed by Ringling Brothers. Which, when you think about it... [insert your own snarky comment here].
