In the past, Gothamist would generally shy away from outdoor music festivals - the heat, the crowds, the portable toilets - it seemed like so much... work. However, we are happy to report that we had a fantastic time at this weekend's Siren Music Festival, and we cannot wait until next year!
We more or less kept to our schedule, but catching all the bands we would have liked to proved difficult. Photographs of the bands we did manage to see are posted below (see inside).
Did anybody else put in the 8-hour day at Coney Island? What were your favorite moments? Ours is revealed in the final photo.

Eleanor Friedberger of The Fiery Furnaces

Geremy Jasper of The Fever

Tyler Spencer (aka Dick Valentine) of Electric Six

Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead

Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie

David Cross and the rest of the audience take in the show

Gibbard pauses for a photo with Gothamist

My favorite part of the day was, by far, seeing two Gothamist scribes drool all over Ben Gibbard from Death Cab.
My favorite part was hearing 'Transatlanticism' as an encore again. It's tried but true. But that's only because I didn't get to witness those amazing eyeglasses on Ben Gibbard in person. He is the emo king! Viva la DCFC.
Awesome pictures, gals. Glad you guys scored some Gibbard love.
my favorite part was forgetting the bands and drinking on the beach. hey, what about that dance party on the boardwalk? that was fun.
my favorite part was when janelle im-ed me on saturday night to tell me she'd met b.g. way to go, girls!
