High Line Plans On Display

The four finalists for developing the High Line have stage 2 of the RFP on display at the Center for Architecture on LaGuardia Place. High Line officials said the design teams "met our expectations and exceeded them," with visions of suspended valleys, rotating art exhibits, clear-bottomed pools and sunflowers. Gothamist is sad that NY1 called the current High Line state an "eyesore" because there is beauty in their abandoned state...it's simply less accessible to the public. But we're still excited that the High Line will become something the whole city can enjoy. Curbed looked at the four different proposals this week; they are easily accessible via Curbed's Urban Planning category.

  • hey, you're covering architecture/urban design!

fantastic! would enjoy more mentions of this sort

developing the high line would give all of new york something unique to visit in its own backyard, and result in a lot of traffic for the local/area merchants.

you have a closet architect here

  • What they really should do is make the highline a southern extension of whatever they're going to do with the #7 westward extension. It could surface in the yards, or under Johnson & Johnson Stadium, if that gets built, and then hook up with the highline and run south to 14th Street. Till then put a temporary walkway on the highline surface...

How often do you have mass transit infrastructure already in place?
