Mayor B Chickens Out

2004_07_pollocampero.jpg

One of the perks of being Mayor is obviously ribbon-cuttings for new restaurants, like the one for Pollo Campero, which has one location in Corona, Queens, to be followed by another in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The Mayor said, "Today, the long wait is finally over,” said Mayor Bloomberg. “Pollo Campero’s arrival in New York City is a gastronomical and economic development treat of substantial proportions. Not only we will all be treated to delicious fried chicken, but hundreds of jobs are being created for hard working New Yorkers." Hear, hear!

Press release about Pollo Campero's opening in NY. And Gothamist doubts this was played during the ribbon-cutting, but it should have been: Cibo Matto's Know Your Chicken.

i wonder, will marty markowitz be at the opening in brooklyn?

Jen, homonyms are a bitch but the correct phrase is "hear, hear". Don't worry, you're beautiful so you can get away with a small gaffe like that.

tsoccol, you're right! "Hear, hear!" is what I should have known, though "here, here" seems more appropriate and active. Augh.

anyone tasted the chicken yet? i've smelled it on flights from guatemala and el salvador, and wished i could get my paws on them. now i can -- yippeee.

Re: Cibo Matto comment. I think the Loews theme song ("sit back and relax . . . enjoy the show") sounds eerily like Cibo Matto.
