I have to say that reading the interview without questions makes me read try to concentrate on the content more. For me, it's a good change of pace that's less about soundbites and more about bigger ideas. As K. Thor points out, it's only for a week, and it's a chance for us to see how it works, as well as for K. Thor to see how it is to produce five new interviews a week. Andrew did a great job with the section, but he has gone and we're trying to let possible interviewers find their own style and pace. I'm sorry that some of you miss the old format, but Jake and I like this format a lot. That said, I know that our later interviewers *do* include questions.

Surely, it does us all some good that all the questions and answers aren't delineated in an easy-to-swallow way. http://chronicle.com/free/2004/07/2004070901n.htm Apparently, so many need to learn to read longer things like literature anyhow, and not just skim the news. Or, interviews. So, it's good practice for that. Thanks for something new.

In all due respect, I have to agree. I used to compulsively read/scan each and every interview but this new, question-less format makes me compulsively skip reading them all together.

Aside from that, I agree with the ADD comment -- Web format isn't friendly to this kind of 21-year-old hipster rambling with no context or editorial pruning. Could you just replace the text with more hot photos like this one? Pretty please?

These interviews are steadily devolving. And I hate not having the questions with the answers...come on- we're all too ADD at this point to read long, unexplained paragraphs without any context.

This guy is nuts. Read his livejournal under the username RSO. It's, um, KRAZEE. What I want to know is, is it an act or is he really really strange for real? One entry on May 5th 2004 3:00pm (you have to click on the link that says "I Never Entry" repeats this line at least thirty times: (X) I NEVER HUNG A DARKIE (NOT EVEN A BIG ONE) Now, I might be a total idiot, but that sounds pretty fucking racist to me, and I'm a cracker from Michigan. Does Gothamist make a habit of interviewing nutty racists? He rants about gays and fat people too.
