Right on the heels of the latest class of NYPD cadets graduating, it seems that Warner Bros. is bringing back the Police Academy franchise. According to the Hollywood Reporter, series creator Paul Maslansky said, "I felt it was time to start again. I saw that 'Starsky & Hutch' and a number of other revivals were doing really well. 'Police Academy' has such a great history. I thought, 'Why not?'" Gothamist isn't totally sure of the logic, given our own problems with it, but we're sure Maslansky is getting tons calls from Steve Guttenberg, Bubba Smith, and Michael Winslow right now.
IMDB's listing on the Police Academy and its sequels; Sharon Stone was in the fourth one. And Gothamist must say G.W. Bailey is one of the archetypes for movie villains with his great 80s performances in Police Academy movies and Mannequin.

I used to watch the Police Academy movies all the time, because they played on cable when my grandparents got it (my parents never believed in cable when I was little, but with my brother it's fine) and I must say, I had a very skewed sense of law enforcement. Thank God for Law & Order to set me straight.
Some additional pics of what the cover MIGHT look like:

My god... have these producers all run out of ideas. But since they're remaking Police Academy, I would put in my vote for a remake of Short Circuit (imagine the CG effects!), and perhaps Porky's can be revisted.
"We live in a society of laws. Why do you think I took you to all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well I didn't hear anybody laughing, did you?" -- Homer Simpson
Says it all...
little known fact: GW Bailey went to High School with Janis Joplin.
i like watching them on the spanish channel. michael winslow is a genius!
careful what you wish for dirk, they ARE remaking Porky's:

this time around savage steve holland is handling the writing. he was the guy who directed Better Off Dead, a movie that hopefullt will be spared this remake frenzy.
If this is anything like the last few Police Academy tv series they did then it's going to suck. Getting a comedy to 'come back' is quite hard, it's much easier to take the piss out of a movie. Remember Starsky and Hutch didn't really come back did they.
When I planned to move to LA in '92, Paul Maslansky had promised me a job at his production company. When I actually arrived, he never actually returned any of my calls. What a guy. On the other hand, If he had called back maybe I'd be producing this crap-fest.
Good day.
Please I would like someone to help me out here. I have been trying to get a hold of Michael Winslow fan address or his personal e-mail. Up till now no luck.
Could you please provide me with the specified info for I'm a big fan.
Thanks in advance.
