Vice-President Gephardt? ZZZZ... Edwards For Kerry

2004_07_boring.jpg

Gothamist really hopes that the Post doesn't have a scoop in rumors that Kerry is choosing Dick Gephardt as his running mate. Gephardt is a snoozefest - even people in Missouri don't want him to run (based on the science of speaking to one Missouran). The Daily News "handicaps the veepstakes," and calls Gephardt, "Boring; plodding speaker; seen as a Beltway retread." Let's hope that when Kerry announces a running mate, the choice will continue to make this fall's election interesting.

CNN says VP speculation is fast and furious; check out the latest speculation and punditry once Kerry choose at Times on the Trail, Atrios and Talking Points Memo. And Gothamist likes this Children of the Corn photo Wonkette has of Kerry and some kids.

Updated: Ha ha (and phew) - Kerry picks John Edwards to be his running mate. Everyone is excited about Edwards (his Senate bio) because he's been talking about a lot of issues that other Democratic presidential candidates hadn't been talking about. As for the Post's "scoop," we can only think that someone in the Kerry campaign fed them a bad leak in order to serve them.

abcnews is reporting that it's john edwards.

...as is cnn.com

It's crazy, I posted that at 7AM, then I turn on the TV, and it's Edwards. But it's not as bad as the Post doing a whole run with Dick on the cover, ha.

Heh! That's a scoop full of shiat for the Post today. No wonder why the homepage is only showing the sports cover.

Kerry is a fine choice. Heck, compared to Cheney, a bag of shit is a good choice.

God, I hate conservatives.

I saw that NY Post headline when I boarded the train into the city this morning - it was a very depressing train ride. (I kept thinking to myself, "Gephardt? Why Gephardt? Why? Why.") I was very relieved to arrive at work and learn that Kerry'd chosen Edwards instead. Phew indeed.

user-pic

ha, the post, what a bunch of suckers.

user-pic

The Post got burned! I wonder what their "sources" were?

Thank god it wasn't Gephardt. Edwards rocks! The Dems need some new blood.

user-pic

heh, it looks like that Post story link got pulled.

now, quick, Edwards! get the defibrillator, yell "clear," and shock some freakin' energy back in the ticket.

Check nypost.com. Click on the cover. Normally the post site shows the front and the back cover when you click on it. Today, it's showing the back cover... twice. Haha! Suckers.

That'll be the only Post this year worth saving.

I read the headline and was definitely depressed, contemplating how I would catch up on my slumber during the inevitable Gephardt-Cheney debates (zzzz). Then, uneasiness -- something just didn't gel; I got uneasy. Why Gephardt? He came in 4th in Iowa: Michigan will go Republican: What does he add? So, I turned to NPR, then Air America -- still no news; no heads up. Then I thought: How does a conservative paper like the Post get a scoop that neither NPR nor Air America is privy to. Impossible. And then, as we all now know, AP reported Edwards. Oh well. Their bad. Let's all laugh and chalk it up to too many cervezas over the long weekend.

hm...it looks like the Post is now running a new front page on their site, trying to convince us they didn't screw up.

user-pic

actually, they actually may go into emergency production with that page for the final editions (guys selling it on the street, etc.).

Also: if you want to make a quick buck, today's Post is selling for $10 on eBay (4000% profit margins!).

Boy Rupert is going to hit the roof when he finds out...

Adam: This is what is called "fool's gold."

It is just me or do they look like they are kissing?

user-pic

Etan, yes, it really looks like Kerry is grabbing Geppy about to give him a big wet smooch!
