I heard that the fireworks will be visible from NJ this year b/c they are having them over the HUDSON like they did in 2000? Can this be confirmed? Thanks!

The FDR thing is an experience, and definitelty something worth doing... once. If you don't have any friends with rooftop views of the East River, and don't appreciate the prospect of fighting sweaty agitated crowds for 4 hours before dusk sets in, but DO have an extra $18 burning a hole in your pocket, you can see the fireworks from Roosevelt Island. They will give you a folding chair and also have food stands serving the traditional summer grill fare [and there are porta-potties, yay!]. I haven't done this for a few years, but the view is actually pretty good.
