Donald Trump, not one to shy away from the media spotlight, is complaining about the vendors that clutter up Fifth Avenue, in an open letter to Mayor Bloomberg (that begins, "Dear Michael"). Trump says that not all the vendors are veterans (who get special dispensation to sell on the street), the streets are messy from debris, and the Fifth Avenue BID association isn't doing their job. Gothamist isn't a fan of those peddlers selling counterfeit purses and watches, causing massive clumps of tourists to just stand there, blocking curbcuts at street corners, but, come on, Trump, even though we enjoy your chutzpah, bizarrely sloe-eyed fiancee, and strange hair, you put a huge, ugly freaking vinyl sign in front of your building to pimp your show. And if that's not part of the destruction of Fifth Avenue, we don't know what is.

..holy fucking hypocrisy....god damn it's funny when one of the fattest capitalists of them all starts to complain about folks hustling on the street to make a few bucks....how about knocking one of your buildings into the hudson and creating a public park...that should open things up a bit...ill bring a shovel....
I don't know much about architecture, and I'm certainly no critic in any traditional sense, but I'd have to say Trump's building on 5th is one ugly piece of work.
Big difference here- he owns the building. Yes it and he may be ugly, but that is besides the point. As someone who works in midtown I am all for getting rid of the street vendors. It is actually worse off 5th Ave- try walking to the 53rd and Medison subway entrance at rush hour when one of these jokers decides to set up shop on a narrow sidewalk that already has had security barricades set up blocking what little free space there is- total pain.
what i think is funny is how much "gothamist" loved the tv show.
