The Houston Chronicle and the Daily News report that a trade has been made sending David Weathers to the Houston Astros for Richard Hidalgo. The trade has not been confirmed yet by either team, but it is thought to be a done deal. According to the report, the Astros would send $4 million along with Hidalgo. The Mets would pay Hidalgo the rest of this season, then likely buy out his contract for $2 million.

Hidalgo started off the season red-hot but has been mired in a slump of late. He is currently batting, .256 with four homeruns and 30 RBI. He possess one of the best arms in right field.

Weathers has pitched in 32 games with a 5-3 record and a 4.28 ERA.
