The wise minds behind Anchorman, the Will Ferrell comedy about TV news during the 70s, decided to release a video of Ferrell and the rest of the Anchorman cast singing Afternoon Delight, (from Starland Vocal Band) knowing full well that the Ferrell demograhic will eat up anything that has Ferrell in it. MTV has the video, as well what the video directors, The Malloys, wanted to do with the video:
We want to play off the idea that lovemaking is happening in the afternoon. We will cut to Ron [Burgundy, Ferrell's character] and beautiful girl (Christina Applegate) having a picnic at the park. Ron will lie down a blanket and they will start to make out. He will also bring out some food like macaroni salad and leg of lamb and mix it in to the lovemaking.July 9th, Anchorman's release date, seems so far away.

Saw a "teasor" for this last night before @ the Loews on 3rd/11th. The Anchorman character wishes Loews a happy 100th anniversary. It was just plain odd and cranky...not really funny.
It kind of bummed me out after intially looking forward to this flick...still can't imagine Mr. Ferrell not being funny in it.
Anyone care to guess how long until we get Will's first "serious" role?
There was talk of him doing Confederacy of Dunces, but I think that's stalled out again.
So far, Will has not worn out his welcome with me. But it's true - it could get dicey if he plays the same kinds of buffoons over and over again. Ferrell's been doing a good job of mixing things up so far, so my fingers are crossed.
i saw will in a "serious" movie - with zooey deschanel (sp?) and what's his fatch that played pollack - it was called "winter's passing" and you know what? mr. ferrell was pretty good. this was a test screening, so i have no idea when/if the film will actually be released.
From the previews, I'm guessing that his motivation is that he wanted to do an entire movie with his completely offbeat Robert Goulet impression, but it just wouldn't work at that angle.
What was that at the end of the video? "Sweaty reuben sex?" I almost died laughing. Comedy gold.
