My uncle has deceased two months ago. The woman who moved into the house within the past two years refuses to leave. They were not married, and has no legal rights to his possesions. How do I go about getting her to leave?

If I let a friend stay with me as a favor (for a year) due to financial hardship in NY, and that person has become extremely disrespectful, and hasn't paid anything, what do I have to do to kick the person out if this person won't leave? Someone mentioned to me that in NY I'd have to go to court because of some squatter law. Could someone please tell me where I can get information on relevant laws. Thank you!

A few months back a former colleague related a similar story to me. Her longtime partner is a lawyer and his brother was thrown out of his own apartment in favor of his now ex-girlfriend. My former colleague seemed to think that the law was not going to fix this situation and favors folks like the ex-girlfriend and Barney.
