Today's Forecast

Image - hokis.comFirst things first: you could still probably brunch today without getting wet. Weather.com says the showers won't start until around 1PM. Plus, there don't seem to be any thunderstorms headed our way; "few showers" will become "showers" that give way to "rain." So if you've been following the wild Midwest severe storm outbreak with pangs of excitement, today will probably disappoint.

This should be a pretty big week for Gothamist Weather. Hurricane season starts tomorrow, and Gothamist also really wants to recap (and see!) The Day After Tomorrow, which hit theaters on Friday. (Come on, do you really think all those people were in line to see Shrek?)

Gothamist anxiously anticipates the bad weather pun-ology in the reviews ("Dennis Quaid drowns in a deluge of his own self-importance," etc). In the meantime, this little snippet from Kurt Loder's MTV review will have to tide us over:

There's a brilliantly conceived wolf-pack chase sequence the likes of which I don't believe I've seen before.

Kurt Loder--the last great deadpan comic of our time.

Related: Dances with Wolves, Loyola University New Orleans (go, uh, 'Pack), and one of the few black velvet paintings in which wolves do *not* figure prominently...but almost everyone else does.
