Bloomberg's Trip to Coney Island

While in Coney Island to proclaim the NYC beach season (Memorial Day through Labor Day), Rush & Molloy report that Mayor Bloomberg ran into Rheingold Beer's Steven Chasen (head of sales). Last month, the mayor derided Rheingold's ads which made fun of Bloomberg's stricter quality of life rules (no smoking, no dancing, etc.). R&M detail their exchange:
Chasen says to Hizzoner: "Hi, I just want to introduce myself. I am the head of sales for Rheingold beer."
The Mayor says, with a smirk, "I'm sorry to hear that."
Chasen says, "I just want you to know, our ad campaign was not a personal attack on you."
Bloomie says, "No hard feelings, it's just too bad you did it at the expense of the city ... [but] you have a classic New York brand, and I wish you well."
Oh, Mayor B, you could have yelled at Rheingold for no longer operating factories in NY! R&M also report that the Mayor did not drink an Rheingold.

See the Rheingold campaign in question: "Don't Sleep." And check out the Coney Island area pizza information from Slice, the hot pizza blog we so dearly love; and for you gadget geeks out there, you can now have Slice on your PDA! Pizza + technology = something close to heaven.
