I see the boo birds are out for Shrek 2, so I will step up and say, "Shrek 2! Good!" I liked the first one, and I liked this one too. Thematically it's a retread of the same ideas as the first one -- be true to thine self, be true -- but I still found it to be an enjoyable romp.

The Shrek movies kinda remind me of Aladdin. Aladdin was a great fun Disney movie, but there were a lot of topical jokes and silliness by Robin Williams that prevent it from being a timeless, transcendent classic. I give it up for Spirited Away though, one of the most creative movies I've ever seen, on par with Wizard of Oz (a direct influence, it appears).

I really liked the first Shrek, but agree with you about Shrek 2. I found it lacking. Everyone I went to see it with was kind of disappointed.

Thank you for admitting not loving the first "Shrek." I, also, found the first one just O.K. When one compares it with "Finding Nemo", or even "Monsters, Inc", it is just not as good/fun/etc. That said, I'll unquestionably see "Shrek 2" ... on DVD.
