Nets Win, Giving Gothamist Hope

The Nets finally defeated the Pistons last night, 82-64 (box score), but still trail Detroit 2-1 in the best of seven series. New Jersey led the game start to finish, scoring the first seven points of the game, and went on to hold Detroit to their lowest score of the season and a franchise playoff low. Richard Jefferson had a career postseason high, shooting 11 for 19 and scoring 30 points. It was a foul laden game, with the two teams combining for 55 fouls, and foul trouble for Kenyon Martin and Rasheed Wallace who were both limited to playing about half the game.

Last night's win gives Gothamist some hope for our bet with Whatevs (Shut up! We can dream, can't we?). Hopefully, the Nets can use this game as a building block to win three more. Jefferson will need help from the rest of the team to do that. Yes, we're still dreaming. Game 4 is Tuesday at 8 p.m. in New Jersey.

Update:
Tickets are still available for tomorrow's game via Ticketmaster online or by phone.

Hey, Nets tickets won't be easy to come by in Brooklyn.

Even if its five years from now.

  • Indiana has had such an easy time in the playoffs, Jermaine O'Neal had time to go to prom.

  • Imagine that, tickets are still available to a Nets game.

OK, it appears that "Chuuuch" is the spelling and it means "absolutely, emphatically, proper" and is derived from "Church".

    Good to know.

  • wow, that's like the best celeb spotting ever! you must give us a detailed report after game 4. if you have a camera, pictures would be great too!

Fat Joe and John Mayer? Were they together? moe, you'll need to give us a courtside report from Game 4!

Let's hope R.Jeff plays well in Game 4 - 20 points + would be good - and Kenyon stays out of foul trouble. And the Nets can't fear the 'fro if Ben isn't wearing one.

I met Snoop Dogg at the game (I am courtside for all Nets games).

I am a white guy, so when I saw Snoop taking pics with some fans in the hallway at halftime, I was apprehensive about saying something to him without looking too ridiculous. I said one of his invented words - not "shizzle" or any "-izzle" word, but "Chutch". I don't know what it means (I once heard him say it on Conan), but Snoop grinned ear-to-ear - he was happy I said it, so he ran over to me and shook my hand.

Snoop was with Warren G, who wasn't getting recognized. Fat Joe and John Mayer were there too.

I'll be there Tuesday. Will Beyonce show up with future Net co-owner Jay Z?
