Seeing bloggers blogging about going to a blog event makes me want to go cold turkey on ever using a computer again. I am a dork, but this is making my dork pegging my dork meter. The fact that Denton and Crazy guy are both in suits kind of drives that last nail in the coffin. buh bye internet!

I totally did not make this event because it was frickin 45 miles away in the City. Additionally, I didn't get a private invitation---not even from Jarvis, who knows my blog is out there. I didn't need, like, a private car or something---just a little TLC (or is it LTC- I can't remember) to convince me that 45 miles is worth the trek.

Could the title of any future "blogging" event really be changed to reflect what's really happening? Perhaps name the next event "Predominantly White Males Who Are Using Blogging Software With Aspirations Towards Multi-Media Empires". Because most of the "bloggers" at this talk were simply business-people who somehow see "blogging" as the next wave of the dot-com boom.

-It was good. Thx Gothamist. Great host, panelists, moderators. I learned a lot. --Jen's also cuter in person than photo on the ad. More seats, better PA needed. -btw, no worries: Normal backing & filling, facilitating is a part of every conference, panel, seminar, etc. Ex.:Compared to last night, NYNMA's last "state of the industry" panel was like an IV drip of codeine and grain alcohol (which I would otherwise recommend :P ). don't let 'em keep you down, jen! -and keep shining that hair; they're just jealous! - Oh yeah: MERC BAR!!! -How about a *&$%^ #{>@-ing Group Discount!!!!

you ought to sit people differently next time. I'm sure those stools gave the panelists a hard time. they might have had influence on that the big showdown between Nick and Jason McCabe didn't happen!

Thanks for all the feedback. Constructive criticism definitely helps us make the future panels better. I do admit to being maybe a little defensive about comments last night, but it's something I think about a lot. There are always things to learn from (like filling air with nothingness, I guess), and our team appreciates constructive criticism. And for the record, thanks, but I think my hair is shinier today than it was yesterday - I used Lush's BIG today.

Jen, you were excellent and Jake, great job organizing it - the whole panel was really interesting and informative, and it was cool to be in a room filled with probably 80% (90%?) bloggers. And it didn't go on too long. I learned a lot and look forward to the next one.

Yeah, there's nothing bloggers like more about talking to each other about nonsense. Seriously, though, I've been reading a few of the comments and posts, and in resposnse to people's thoughts that the last panel wasn't as interesting as they hoped, we were trying to be light-hearted, as we could tell people were getting tired and restless, as well as try to answer some questions honestly. Thinking about it, I know I could have been more clear and focused at times. Maybe for the next panel, we'll ask people to email questions/topic ideas and use that as a way to get really into issues you guys are interested in. That's why trackbacks and comments (and email, if you wish) are great - we can get immediate feedback. Thanks all!

Sounds like I missed a great evening =) I'm still waiting for Europe to catch up with the US in the whole internet/blogging thing. I'm not holding my breath. A good blog requires one to be enterprising (like Jen, Liz Spiers, Anil etc). 'Enterprise' is still a dirty word in Europe, IMHO. Of course, there are exceptions- Loic Le Meur etc.
