Larry Wachowski discusses the Matrix; Photo - CNNLarry Wachowski at Cannes

To update our post last year about the possibility of Matrix co-creator Larry Wachowski getting a sex change operation, it seems that Wachowski is going ahead with it. Friends confirm to the Chicago Sun-Times that Wachowski, who has been calling himself "Linda," will "complete the process of becoming a woman."

Another womanly picture of Larry/Linda Wachowski. And no word yet on what the Wachowskis plan to work on next.

awww us transsexuals love you too, jake

  • You realize that Linda immediately becomes the highest-grossing female director in Hollywood, right?

  • Max

Jen, wouldn't that be Linda and Andy Wachowski? And NB is re-hab??? WTF, I missed that morsel.

  • this post is on gothamist because gothamist loves all of our demographics: new yorkers, hipsters, movie directors, and transexuals. particularly transexuals.

Well, much like pandas, which aren't really NY-related, Gothamist is just interested in this. I could stretch it and say the Matrix movies are shown in NY blah blah blah but Jake and I are just kind of hooked on celebrity gossip of any kind, like Xander, aka Nicholas Brendon, from Buffy going to rehab. Who knew?

  • Why is this news? In particular, why is it news on a blog about New York?

  • Jen

    Thanks, Mase.

Yes, many "Sibling Wachowski" references have been used. But, perhaps like the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, this is a good opportunity for people to call them Larry and Andy Wachowski, vs. the Wachowski brothers.

Other brother-sister teams in Hollywood: Sofia and Roman Coppola. Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal. Warren Beatty and Shirley MacLaine.

  • In the immortal words of the driving-impaired Billy Joel, Wachowski "steals like a thief, but she's always a woman to me."

  • So I guess the next film won't be from the Brothers Wachowski, but from the Siblings Wachowski?
