I would only say something if the phone calls are taking place in shared space. My roommate takes calls in the living room somewhat frequently, and it's hard to hear the TV over the talking - that's when you say, "Hey, I'm trying to watch The Apprentice, go talk somewhere else!" She doesn't talk about me though. Unless I'm not understanding the code. Hmm.

It is perfectly possible to have someone speaking English to your face and not ever consciously register a single word -- just ask my wife. Regarding the "code": perhaps the roomate knows the code is broken and is just trying to communicate stuff she can't bring herself to say face to face.

my girlfriend often talks to her friends about "getting rid of j-a-k-e", should i be concerned? my feeling is that roommates need to protect themselves by any means necessary- evesdropping is only the beginning.
