Yankee Hater

The big expose in the Post today is not some Page Six gossip bit but rather that the creator of Yankee Hater gear is from New Jersey. Curt Schilling made waves when he wore a Yankee Hater hat (red hat with Yankees' insignia) at a hockey game, which was the fruit of Mike Moorby's idea to send some hats to the Red Sox. Moorby told the Boston Herald, "I just thought there were a lot of people who really despise the Yankees. It was just an idea, and I ran with it." While this continues to fan fire in the debate about whether good things come from New Jersey, Gothamist has a feeling that the "A-Rod is an A-Hole" shirt will be a hit even with Yankee fans if he continues his subpar (for a $250 million) performance. And $1 of every Yankee Hater purchase goes to The Jimmy Fund.

Tonight, Yankees vs. Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Two people who would probably enjoyed some Yankee Hater couture: Lockhart Steele and Eliot Shepard.

I live in Texas and I promise I hate the Yankee's as much as anyone from Boston. Fact is everyone I know who watches any baseball in Texas (i.e. Astros or Rangers) hates the yankee's just the same as me. That pretty much shoots down that theory about Boston having an inferiority complex. Most people hate the yankees period. My favorite poll ever on espn.com is rate your most hated yankee's 1-16. I think Derek J. will always be number #1 most hated for me. Go Sox! Take them in Game 7! Punk the yankee's tonight in Game 7! Go Sox!

Yankee Hater

I live in Florida. I just survived hurricanes Charlie and Frances. This is destruction on a statewide scale that can only equal 9/11. Thousands are homeless here. I drove through the destruction and, as a Floridian, has never witnessed such devastation. People in Tampa are still under water. The Devil Rays could not just fly out and leave this to their families to appease the cowering Yankees. That the Yankees could blow the dust off the rule book and call for a "forfeit" under the circumstances was as cowardly and insensitive an act as I can think. The most cowardly being what Bin Laden did to New York on 9/11. How interesting that the New Yorkers are shown pity and help and millions of dollars of aid for their 9/11 devastation, but when it happens to someone else, they get out the rule book show what assholes they are.

I am a Tampa D-Rays fan, but now also a Boston Red Sox fan who hopes that Boston keeps on this impressive streak and puts the final nail in the Yankee coffin.

I may also point out that George Steinbrenner, when the Yankees were calling for a forfeit because the Devil Rays could not get out of Florida, did not leave Florida himself. He stayed at his Florida home to look out after love ones and his precious multi-million dollar property. The Devil Rays weren't allowed to stay in Florida, but he was. Interesting? If the Yankees are assholes (which they are) it all starts at the top.
