The Problem with Jillian Barberie

2004_04_wjillian.jpgGothamist can't decide what to think about Jillian Barberie. PROS: Self-made broadcast success; clawed her way up from an internship at Canada's The Weather Network to high-profile gigs in Miami and LA. Speaks out against Fen Phen and animal cruelty. CONS: Dresses like a skank; pimps her "weather broad" persona out to sell beer, football, and motor oil.

Maybe Gothamist is just tired of seeing Jillian's face plastered all over the subway with fellow Good Day Live hosts Dorothy and Steve. But there is something else about her postfeminist, "take me or leave me" persona that chafes. It might have something to do with the way Barberie has so fully embodied the cute weathergirl persona in her rise to fame. Gothamist wonders when the trend of commandeering the weather segment to break into broadcasting will end. There can't be a dearth of telegenic female meteorologists. Are they just not hiking up their hot pink miniskirts enough? Gothamist wonders what hard-core weather scientists think about their TV peers, Barberie especially. (Beyond "she's hot," hopefully.)

I have been wondering what happen to Jillian and finally this site. Talking over top of guest and Steve got on my last nerve but there was something that kept me coming back for 2 years to watch her. Jillian was entertaining. Quite obvious though that she has some serious issues and hopefully she can resolve those in private now. I have to agree with everyone else though, now the show does suck and it's boring. Everyone on the show has changed the way they act on camera.

Jillian was not the type of personality that I could agree with on most matters, but she did add a lot to the show. It has become "flat" since she left. I hope they can find a replacment soon, or I too will stop watching because of the boring guest hosts. Please no more Henry Winkler!

I was very sad to see Jillian off the show! She was the reason I watched it. Good Day Live is just boring without her. I Love you Jillian!!!

i was very disapointed when jillian left the show and i have yet to understand why she is gone.the show is totally boring without her. alot of people

dislike jillian because she spoke her mind and was not afraid to talk about things that all of us

actually want to say. i hope the show desenegrates

into nothingness without her, because for myself and i am sure many others i will never tune into the show again....unless of course jillian comes back.

Pamela in Chicago said it right! I'm glad that annoying, self obsorbed, over-rated, half witted, hypocritical, fame wisher wannabe, insecure, inapropriate, unprofessional idiot is gone. Her style file was rediculous, it was like the blind leading the blind. She was the biggest idiot of all 3 idiots. Now we're left with Dorothy whose voice is so raspy she sounds like a man and Steve who's just stuck in the middle and needs to retire. The show itself shouldn't even be on air so I hope its canceled soon because as someone else said, the show is absolutely irrelevant since the news is recycled from last nights entertainment tonight, this weeks Star and National Inquirer and People magazine. If they had half the brain god gave a cock roach they would all quit and do something much better with their lives. I'm so glad I don't have to see her in those rediculous clothes. Come on, when you're 5.2 inches, you're not supposed to wear Capris, they only make your body look shorter!!! I was waiting for her to say "follow the yellow brick road"

I missed Jillian's last day and have been wondering what happened until I found this website. I hate the show without her and it will not last. Dorothy's personality is way more annoying than Jillian's ever was. Steve is boring.

What happened to Jillian. I went out of town and came back and she was gone with no mention of her? She is the reason I started watching the show.

was sort of shocked to see jillan no longer on

"Good Day Live", but, at the same time, she ask

    for it.

anyone that sits and down talks the show that is

paying your bills, as she did, no longer deserved to be there, as "Howard Stern", her "hero" said

she is good eye candy, but, annoying as hell.

I would cring when she would go on about her "5" jobs and how much she hated being on "good day", the saying is true don't bite the hand that feeds you. Now we no longer have to listen about her montly period, and finding a quarter for the machine. See spoke so badly about a job most of us would have died for, Well Jillian you got what you wished for. When she would go on about how

she hated name droppers, and gossip, she should have tevoed her own shows she was the biggest gossip and name dropper on T.V. Now we can actually hear what the guest are saying without

the conversation always coming back to her, her, her. Good luck loud mouth. Thank you good day live

I was shocked to see Jillian's last appearance on Good Day Today. Frankly I dont think the show will make it without her. She was the sparkplug, the personality. I say that, as a person , in broadcasting, with CBS for 35 years.. in St. Louis

I too have mixed feeling about Jillian. I think she's trashy, but she does have a heart of gold (trashy gold, though).
