Ugh, The NYC street Grid system must be the worse system when it comes to wind tunnelling effects.

I remember WTC swayed as much as 3 feet at the top, enough to notice the drinks to bob around. The John Hancock Tower in Chicago used to sway so much, the windows popped out of their placements. I envy all the people who work in highrise buildings, they must be having some fun.

I'll take any extra wind/rain that set-back cause in exchange for sunlight reaching the streets.

I worked in a (sliver) building that swayed in strong winds. One very bad day, between the rocking and the creaking steel, I was motion-sick.

The worst "wind tunnels" occur where a high-rise was allowed to build higher in exchange for being set back more than normal from the street. This is supposed to be for the benefit of pedestrians somehow. I don't get it. It gives less protection from rain and makes wind worse. Gee, thanks, city planners.
