AUGH! tien has witnesses the changing of the restaurant guard with Gage & Tollner's turning into a T.G.I. Friday's! It's more stomach-turning than the Friday's menu - which is practically the size of a phone book - but folks will probably get used to it once they have enough Ultimate Hawaiian Volcanos ("Tropical juices + Southern Comfort + DiSaronno Amaretto + Smirnoff Vodka = an eruption of fun" - it'll be an eruption of something, all right). But it is sad to see a Brooklyn institution like Gage & Tollner go. Gothamist hopes Applebee's doesn't buy Lutece's space, too.
Gothamist on the news that Friday's was moving in.

having worked at a fridays for a number of years, I can with great strength say: 'uuuuuuuuuuuugh"
My ex-girlfriend Elise "the crazy junkie" worked at Friday's as a waitress, she hated it. And I was never fond of their food for that matter.
However, I do have it on good advice that it is unwise, indeed very unwise to order the "ultimate" drink sizes they have there. Reason being, though the glass is larger, it doesn't hold that much more, the glass is just thicker. Rizer, the bartender who used to get me drunk while I was in the bar area waiting for said ex-girlfriend to get off work filled me in on that one. Caveat Emptor ;)
Thanks for the tip, KennyBitch. Until they serve "Blender size," we'll stick with beer.
No problem. I stick to Killians, NewCastle and Guinness myself usually anyway. But Friday's doesn't have NewCastle. At least, they didn't last time I was there.
