The Apprentice: A Business Soap Opera

2004_03_apprentice.jpg

In the grand tradition of badmouthing former opponents/teammates on reality shows, The Apprentice's Katrina Campins went on WPLJ and was talking about how Amy Henry has been involved with two cast membersl: "My question to her [Amy] is, well, you're a 'ruthless businesswoman,' yet it seems like your emotions for two separate men are getting in the way of this job. She's denying it now, of course, and I'd be denying it if I slept with two people as well." Okay, as far as Gothamist can see, Amy's prospects were Nick (blech) and...The Donald? Is that why he likes her so much? Or was it Sam? Yeah - total denial there.

Of course Amy is denying all: "This claim is absolutely false and is so ridiculous it really does not warrant a response. I think Katrina is a beautiful, smart young woman and I'm sorry to see her use such a ploy as a PR measure." People say that had there been any hanky-panky, it would have ended up on the show, which Gothamist can believe, since Mark Burnett is such a ratings whore. That's why we think the "sleeping" probably happened in some alley, elevator, or taxicab. But, jeez, all the people on The Apprentice are such idiots. Except for Carolyn and George. Gothamist loved Carolyn Kepcher's interview with the Times yesterday. And Troy - we hated you less than Nick and Amy, so we'll miss you - just not your hat.

I think Katrina is the best and that she didn't make up the thing about Amy being with two men because i recall seeing on the show Amy flirting with a lot of the men.

Nick is an actor; pass it on...

Katrina is beautiful therefore she cannot lie.

  • I heard a rumor that Amy hooked up with Bill after the end of the taping, so that might explain Katrina's quote, but who knows what's true. Generally, the romance has been hyped more in the promos than displayed on the show. My roommate and I were starting to take bets on if they were going to use the night-vision cameras in the bedrom, a la The Real World.

    And Carolyn rocks.

Carolyn is the best. The Donald loves her for her professionalism and business smarts; but the dumb Apprentice girls tried to impress him with the jiggling and Ally McBeal skirts. Let that be a lesson to Heidi (Picasso-face) and company.

  • i like bill and was hoping when he and kwame went to the barbershop that he'd do something about that flattop.. but he didnt. he's gotta lose that hairstyle.

I almost uked at the sight of Omarosa on the previews, and not just because I was trashed. I have no desire to see what context they bring her back and plan on fast-forwarding as much as possible, thank to the DVR.

And last night we had the second task where a team that was going to lose all of a sudden gets a customer with 15 minutes to go. This happened a few weeks ago during the apartment refurbishing in Cobble Hill. One team couldn't rent the apt until 15 minutes before the end of the task when someone magically walks in an signs for the lease. Later, it turned out that the production company for the show had sent the woman in to sign the lease in an arrangement that had been worked out with the landlord. So I think they are directing who they want to eliminate, which is probably no surprise to anyone. But I was surprised about Troy, maybe a great "twist" to keep interest.

  • The Donald

What's all this hype about Carolyn like she's the CEO of some Fortune 500 company? Remember, she's the manager of a golf course!!

it occurred to me that maybe assorama was a "mole" planted to stir things up and report back to hq...but maybe i just want to think that becuase i'd rather that be the truth than find out someone could really was that hideous. she was so awful that it's not outrageous to think that she was putting people on, right?

  • Her quote sounds to me like Amy slept with someone during taping (Nick, presumably) and has since hooked up with a second guy since the taping ended.

  • Yeah, all that "Apprentice" show serves to do is greater strengthen people's tendencies toward dishonesty and opportunism. The contestants are trained, human rats running around -and getting nowhere- on Trump's little rodent wheel.

  • miguelito

And more importantly -- what is the deal with Omarosa coming back next week? I can hardly wait to see in what context she's resurrected ...
