  • One simple question regarding that "50 Most Loathsome New Yorkers" article:

When is the Beast going to file the plagiarism suit? Some of those jokes are lifted word for word.

  • guy

i thought this thread was supposed to be about low culture...

  • Jen

Yes, we have problems. That much is true.

  • Jen

Choire is great - to judge him by Gawker alone is typical of the NY Press, but that's their own problem.

  • ryan

Gawker's supposed to be an asshole... isn't that the point? Choire proves himself in his other articles - love the morning news stuff.

  • "sickly corey" hurt our collective feelings over here. we "thin-skinners" take everything so very personally...sniff...after a series of meetings we held, all we ever wanted to do was re-invent the website on this, our one-year anniversary, and coincidentally happened to re-launch today.

i guess, contrary to the research we conducted at the tail end of march on this matter, website readers have no regard for personal observations and thoughts on the world.

oh, how we dread having to revert to second-rate political notes and third-tier media quips...

and also, choire is a superstar, lest you forget that...we went to a "six-finger satellite" revival concert with mr. sicha last week, and inbetween his bragging how much he abhorred the juan mclean project, it was inspiring/amazing watching celebrities like adrien brody and elisha cuthbert and howell raines pander to the great sicha in the interest of getting good buzz.

as a point of reference, ABC's john stossel was there, too, sitting at the same table as the DFA, but no one was even approaching him...i don't even think the crowd at Volume even knew who he was!

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Choire "of note" BECAUSE he's a blogger of note? I'm confused...

  • jonmc

I've met Choire. Sure, he's loathsome, but in an incredibly likable way.

I gotta take issue with including Chuck Klosterman, the only music writer worth reading since he isn't either a) fawning over the latest hipster-approved indie band, or b) working hard on his bored indifference.

I also would remove Janeane Garofalo. Yes, she's a limo-liberal latte-sucking effete nitwit snob, but she makes up for it by being totally fuckable. Yeah, I know, I hate hipsters and lefties but I'm drawn to their women. It's a fatal flaw.

I do thank them for including the pedantic, self-satisfied pile of ego that is David Cross and the "iSnobs."

  • when those started showing up in my RSS feed last night, dated 1 april, but not appearing on the site's front page, i was baffled. you'd think i could have figured it out. but, nah, i'm a moron.

as backwards props to the l.c. staff, i was getting kinda up in arms at the vacuousness of the posts, so i'm glad i'm the one who's the fool, and not them. well done, fellas.

  • even hung over on apple martini's, A-game.
