Jason Kidd and Allan Houston both have bum knees. Kidd, the Brooklyn New Jersey Nets point guard may miss the rest of the regular season and playoffs with his knee injury with surgery a possibility as well. Houston, the Knicks co-captain, has no idea when he will return. The injuries to both players have post-season implications for their teams.
The Nets are virtually assured of the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference when the playoffs begin, but without Jason Kidd, nobody knows if they will make it out of the first round. Nets GM Rod Thorn said, "It would be very difficult without him because he's a great player." With the playoffs starting on April 17th, Kidd has about a month to rest his knee, with surgery being the last option.
The situation for the Knicks is not quite as pretty. Right now, the Knicks are in the 7th of the 8 playoff spots, but with Allan Houston out, their security in that position is questionable. Houston said, "Either you can play, or you can't. And right now I just can't." The Knicks could either fall right out of the playoffs or improve their standings to move up to the 5th place in the east. Houston has also been the subject of trade rumors with Kobe Bryant.

knicks still on bubble in terms of playoff possibilities, imho
marbury's been good at dishing out assists, but his shooting has gone from bad to worse of late
even if they make the nba's 'big dance,' i don't see them doing much damage & probably would be lucky to make it beyond the first round
seems like the nba's power elite are mostly in the western conf.
Yes. The Eastern Conf is Weak. Look whos leading it...the PACERS!?! I hate the Pacers with a passion.
I don't expect the Knicks to make the playoffs, and as far as im concerned they don't deserve to. Overvalued Marbury alone cannot carry the team, and the same goes for Houston.
If they want to trade for Kobe, they're going to have to pay big in terms in salary for Kobe and solid players. But something has to change.
interesting note - if the playoffs started today, the nets and knicks would meet in the first round. a battle for the hearts of new yorkers...or something like that.
actually, kojak, kobe has expressed several times that he wants to test the free agent market. of course the knicks have little cap room, so the only way that kobe could come to the knicks is in a sign and trade, which the lakers might begrudgingly take. although, with houston's knee problems, who knows.
the knicks are better off with houston and his "i just can't" ass. he may score lots of points here and there, but he does nothing to improve the players around him. starbury will take the load of his hometown on his back and get us to the promised land, but as far as making it out of round 1, i don't know, but i just want to see the bricks back in the playoffs with hope for offseason pickups/trades and next year.
Forget kobe... I would prefer it if Isiah stayed creative and tried to work out a way to get 2005 free agent Tracy McGrady.
Allan Houston kills me. He has no fire. His contract deal alone should prevent anyone in the NBA from having any affiliation with Layden ever again. What a dangerous, free spending fool he was. I hope we can trade Houston the second the season is over but it'll most likely never happen. Who'd take a washed up pure perimeter shooter with no game, no defense and no aggressiveness at his current contract rate. {Hmm... maybe Layden should manage another team, then HE could sigh Houston there!!}.
Ahhh McGrady, a Knicks Dream, maybe . . . maybe if he joined the Knicks i might actually Pay money to see a Game. He would force houston to step up his game or get sidelined.
u people dont no anything houston is the factor of the team. if they didnt have him theyd be dead they wouldnt be in the playoffs and they would have lost to the worst team in the nba. they have no chance of getting both mcgrady and bryant. no wonder they lost in the first round allan houston was injured think of it. he and spree caried the team allan houston had 20 a game and so did spree u cant lose him even though he has a big contract. U ALL SUCK
