Robbery at Capitale

2004_03_capitale.jpg

In a truly bizarre twist, Lower East Side hotspot, Capitale, was robbed as they were decorating the space with fake money for the premiere party of robbery movie, The Ladykillers. At around 3:30PM, in the midst of trying to make Capitale look like a robbery scene (it's in the movie!), two men robbed the restaurant of $5,000, after roughing up and duct-taping a few employees. The robbers had a cold strategy: Pistol, getaway car (a Mercedes), and foresight to rob during a crazy time while everyone else would be worrying on getting ready for the party. But the party still went on, with the usual array of stars showing up.

Marlon Wayans, one of the stars of the Coen brothers remake of the original 1955 version with Alec Guinness and Peter Sellers, says that Joel and Ethan Coen are the older, Jewish brothers he never had.

If the robber was speaking like Forrest Gump, then police should check out Tom Hanks.
