Behind the Camera

Gothamist is so watching Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Charlie's Angels tonight. Not just because the women playing Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith look and sound exactly like them (the blond, not so much in either department), but because Wallace Langham, a.k.a. Phil from The Larry Sanders Show, and Dan Castellaneta, a.k.a. Homer Simpson, have prominent roles, underneath the wigs and 70s leisure suits. Wallace plays talent manager Jay Bernstein while Dan plays Aaron Spelling.

The Times review points out that Eisner, an ABC executive at the time, initially rejected the idea for the show. The Post's Linda Stasi says she rather watch Judas on ABC ("It's so dopey that it's almost fun. Almost.").

yeah, i watched but was a bit disappointed. i wanted to see more of what happened after cheryl ladd b/c farrah wasn't the only cast change. remember that blonde tiffany chick? there must have been some sort of drama then, too.

Just watched about 10 minutes of Behind the Camera and found it pretty entertaining, so far.

Best part so far: an ABC exec trying to pitch a show called American Pop Stars, a "variety / game show where regular people compete to be pop stars."

  • But Judas is played by Jonathan Schaech and he and Jesus wrestle!
